The 2020 Texas Radio Hall of Fame event will go on! BUT in a bit different form than what we are used to.
We will produce an interactive induction program, complete with our trademark introduction pieces, and (hopefully) acceptance remarks from most of the 2020 inductees themselves for all to enjoy. It will be available on our traditional induction weekend, which is always the first Saturday in November. (11/7/2020)
Keeping your safety and the safety of your loved ones in mind is why we have taken these steps, as the unpredictability of the COVID-19/Coronavirus prevents most of us from making any big plans for the foreseeable future. *To ‘hope for the best/cross our fingers’ and then to have this event be cancelled by state, county or city officials could have been financially devastating to the group.
But, we realize the importance of this achievement for our inductees, and we will be taking great steps to ensure this will still be a memorable experience for them and for you.
We also realize that sharing this joy with family, friends, colleges and co-workers, long time supporters and sponsors is also important, and we think we have found a way to include them as well.
There will be a charge to view our event. But, it will be considerably cheaper than attending one of our ceremonies. Just $10.00 per person. Purchase Deadline 10/31/20. The links are to follow.
The night prior to the scheduled release of the virtual ceremony, we will e-mail you a secure download link so that you may view the program in the comfort of your own home.
If you plan on watching with a loved one, you will need to purchase two viewing/tickets, and yes, we will also be offering up a “Virtual Tables of Ten.” -kudos to Lee Woods for that suggestion.
Now, how do spectators/loved ones etc. participate? We have decided to allow family members, radio stations, loyal sponsors, friends, etc. to purchase what we are calling “Congratulations Presentation Panels” for $250.00 on a first come first served basis. This will be a single pane note of congratulations (you may include a logo if you like) that will be visible prior to the induction of the individual YOU wish to honor. Not only will it go in the video induction presentation, but they will be featured for an entire year at our interactive display at the museum in Kilgore. Keep in mind, due to the unique circumstances we will *NOT* be placing these video vignettes on our YouTUBE page. This will be the only way to view them for an entire year.
Even though there will be no event, we will still update the on-site display, the names of new inductees will be added, and we will also make arrangements for free admission to The Texas Broadcast Museum so that inductees and a guest can see the display in a safer and more socially distanced manner.
It’s hard to comprehend all of this. It’s even harder to type it. <I’m sure I made mistakes>> But, I give you my word that we will make this the best it can possibly be and hopefully our 20th anniversary will be one worthy of the wait.
